This magnificent vase is one of the famed Wedgwood Fairyland Lustreware designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones. Used more frequently than any other Fairyland design, Imps on a Bridge and Treehouse was one of the last five patterns of Fairyland lustre still being produced in 1940, one year before the last remaining stock was sold. Featuring the brilliant flame lustre background, this lovely vase depicts a procession of imps crossing a bridge spanning the rocky banks of a river. The curved supports of an aerial treehouse, curiously missing on this piece, enclose them in a birdcage-like structure.
