A magnificent, vibrantly-colored Thai ruby weighing 11.71 carats stars in this ring by the legendary jewelry designer Jean Schlumberger. This ruby is certified by the American Gemological Laboratories (AGL) to be of Thai origin. Though Thailand's mines are now depleted, the locale is renowned for producing some of the most impeccable rubies ever found. These rare gems are not only known for their deep "Siamese" red hue, but also for their unparalleled clarity and absence of silk. A letter accompanies the cert that states that this ruby, "possesses a richly saturated, vivid red color and high relative clarity, providing a superior degree of transparency." Furthermore, it also states that its cushion shape, mixed-cut form, "gives the impression of a much larger size than its already impressive 11 carats weight, as well as instilling a charm factor, which is difficult to quantify."

Jean Schlumberger is counted among the most respected jewelry designers in history. Born in France, he created costume jewelry for Elsa Schiaparelli before moving to New York after World War II. Hired by Tiffany & Co. in the 1950s, Schlumberger’s work quickly became the talk of the town, attracting collectors such as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and the Duchess of Windsor. Today, Tiffany pieces with the Schlumberger name remain among the firm's most desirable. Concerning origin, size, quality and maker, this ring stands out as an impeccable work of jeweled artistry.
