This classically inspired glass sculpture by Steuben Glass Works represents the idealized male torso of Adonis. Designed by American figural sculptor Gary Weisman, this work takes cues from ancient Greek sculptural fragments and was cleverly constructed using the cire perdue method to achieve its worn stone quality. Cire perdue is a lost wax casting technique that allows for more detail than is usually possible in glassmaking, perfectly suited for the defined musculature present in this piece.
