A truly rare find, this American Brilliant Period cut glass trumpet vase by Meriden is masterfully cut in the Alhambra pattern. Alhambra's distinctive deep and precise cuts make it one of the most highly sought-after cut glass patterns. Its incredibly brilliant design features a hobstar and cane motif offset by a wide Greek Key border. A similar vase is in the collection of the Corning Museum of Art (New York).

Popularly known as "Greek Key," Alhambra is so brilliant that fine jewelry shops appropriately placed it among their diamonds and precious gemstones. It remains one of the most coveted designs of American Brilliant Period cut glass. According to author Michael Pearson, to own “even a single piece is a prize” (Encyclopedia of American Cut & Engraved Glass, page 149).
