This delightful Belleek teapot exhibits the highly coveted Thorn pattern. First registered in 1878, the Thorn pattern is among the company's most charming and eclectic, taking its inspiration from the branch of a hawthorn tree in blossom combined with a spider's web. The pattern is beautifully executed in black on this teapot, which also features gilding along the handles, crown, and base.

Known for being extremely dainty and lightweight, Belleek porcelain is among the finest in the world. Distinguished by designs taken directly from nature, their remarkable variety of patterns and delicacy of ornament testifies to the superior levels of artistry reached by Belleek craftsman since the mid-19th century.

A very similar teapot is pictured on page 174 of Belleek: The Complete Collector’s Guide and Illustrated Reference, 1993, by R. Degenhardt.
