The knob of this walking stick is formed from the seed of a palm tree, known as a tagua nut, which has been carved by a Western artisan in an Eastern motif. The carvings feature pagodas and depictions of Buddha, and the knob unscrews to reveal yet another carved element, a stylized smiling Buddha. The silver collar bears English hallmarks and the engraved initials of the cane's original owner.
