This classic ring by Oscar Heyman features a fancy orange Ceylon sapphire, one of the rarest of all fancy colored sapphires. Weighing 4.38 carats, the oval mixed-cut jewel displays a superb orange hue and is certified by C. Dunaigre as Ceylon in origin. The rare stone is set in platinum with 10 white diamonds totaling 1.52 carats.

Sapphires rival diamonds in the number of colors in which they can be found. Most commonly seen in shades of blue, sapphires can exhibit almost any color, and the more unusual the hue, the more desirable and valuable the stone. Orange sapphires are among the most unique and highly prized of all colored sapphires, particularly those that exhibit such vivid, saturated color as the present example.
