Daum has been one of the most important names in French art glass since the late 19th century. Employing a team of talented artists, the firm produced both commercial glass and singular pieces of outstanding quality. Daum glass was first produced in about 1872, manufacturing plate glass and tableware for the French market in Nancy, and it was in 1890 that Auguste and Antonin Daum began production on the cameo glass for which Daum is now renowned. Very few pieces of this quality would have been produced, and unique, hand-crafted vases such as this are dearly sought by collectors all over the world. This rare vase is a prime example of the superb quality and detail for which this firm is known.
