Oil on canvas

The Pissarro family of French painters boasts one of the most long-lasting and significant legacies in the history of art. This brilliantly hued composition by French artist Lélia Pissarro is an extraordinary addition to that legacy. Pissarro’s masterful technique, rich with swift and short brushstrokes of brilliant color, reveals the strong influence of her father, H. Claude Pissarro; her grandfather, Paulémile Pissarro; and her great-grandfather, the Impressionist Camille Pissarro. Entitled Eternal Spring, the work brings together the time-honored landscape genre with the bold color and swift brushstrokes that define the Pissarro family tradition.

The fourth generation in a long line of famous painters, Lélia seemed destined to pick up the paint brush. She was the third and youngest child of the artist H. Claude Pissarro, who is also a painter of great talent and renown. Naturally, Pissarro learned her craft at an early age, primarily studying under her grandfather, the artist Paulémile Pissarro. She sold her first painting to New York art dealer Wally Findlay at the age of just 4, and she exhibited her first work at age 11 at La Jeune Peinture in Paris. She would go on to exhibit in cities throughout France, as well as in Israel, New York, Switzerland, Boston and London.

The painting is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
