This jeweled guilloché enamel two-color gold vanity case by Fabergé is a perfect example of the workmanship of one of the firm's most important artisans, Henrik Wigström. Wigström was renowned for his neoclassical style, which was inspired by the architecture of ancient Greece and Rome. The elegant motif incorporates garlands and wreaths of yellow and rose gold accented with sparkling diamonds against a background of translucent green and white enamel. The guilloché enamel technique used here was perfected by the famed Russian firm, who remains unrivaled in this type of enameling.

The interior of the vanity case features a convenient tri-part design, complete with a mirrored central compartment. As a whole, it encapsulates the luxurious design and fine craftsmanship achieved by the House of Fabergé.

Fine jewels and objects hailing from the Fabergé workshops are timeless rarities. These incredible creations were crafted during the grandeur of Russian's Imperial Court with the most spectacular designs created specifically for the Tsar Alexander III and later Tsar Nicholas II and their courts. Fabergé also served as the Swedish Court Goldsmith at the beginning of the 20th century. Only the finest precious materials and gemstones were used in all of Fabergé’s creations and surviving pieces are increasingly scarce.

This piece was illustrated in Fabergé: Joaillier à la Cour de Russie by G.a de Habsburg and A. de Solodkoff.

Marked “Faberge” with workmaster’s mark of Henrik Wigström, 72 zolotnik mark and scratched inventory number 6092B.
