An immense rarity in the world of colored diamonds, this exceptional fancy pink diamond weighs an incredible 10.50 carats. Stones with a pink hue rank among the scarcest of all colored diamonds and those that weigh over one carat are particularly prized for their rarity and beauty. This example measures a remarkable 10.50 carats — an incredible size for a diamond of this color and quality.
The stone is certified by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) as a rare Type IIa diamond, meaning that it contains no nitrogen, and boasts brilliant optical transparency. Already a rare grading for white diamonds, it is even rarer for pink diamonds to earn the highly coveted grading. In fact, only a handful of Type IIa pink diamonds are known to exist in the world; two others, the famed Darya-i-Noor and Noor-ol-Ain diamonds, are part of the Iranian Crown Jewels. Furthermore, it displays VVSI clarity, meaning the diamond’s delicate color is virtually flawless and unmarred by any imperfections. The result is a gem of remarkable radiance that, thanks to its rectangular modified brilliant cut, appears even larger than its already impressive carat weight.
Pink diamonds are counted among the most precious and desirable gemstones in the world today, and their rarity has only increased in recent years. Ninety percent of the world’s supply of pink diamonds derive from the Argyle mines in Australia, and, of those, only one percent are graded “fancy pink.” The Argyle mines were decommissioned in 2020, causing the demand for pink diamonds to soar. Additionally, of those found, natural pink diamonds that weigh over a carat are extremely difficult to come by. To find a pink diamond of such singular hue, clarity and overall quality for its size is simply extraordinary.
This alluring gem is set amid two trapezoid-cut D-color diamonds totaling 1.04 carats, the perfect complement to the pure pink color of the center stone. Set in platinum and 18k rose gold.
