An iridescent, golden glow is emitted from the lily-form Favrile glass shades of this outstanding lamp by Tiffany Studios. The lamp is the perfect illustration of Louis Comfort Tiffany's lifelong interest in the natural world; his top designs such as this drew inspiration from his experience with nature. The subtle gradation in color and shape of each shade reveals its exceptional craftsmanship. A complex and well-balanced design, this lamp displays the careful execution and artistic eye for which Tiffany is known.

Louis Comfort Tiffany’s discovery of what he coined “Favrile” glass in the mid-1890s had a significant impact on the American decorative arts. Favrile glass exhibits dichroic properties that give Tiffany glass a beautiful iridescence. Not only did his creations win awards at the great exhibitions, but they inspired other glassmakers such as Loetz and Quezal to create their own luminescent glass objects. Complete with its original gilt bronze base, this lamp typifies Tiffany's interpretation of Art Nouveau.

A very similar lamp is featured in Tiffany By Design by Nina Gray.
