This marvelous jewelry table, or table à bijoux is a marvelous specimen of French Empire furniture. Immediately, the doré bronze work and exquisite parquetry are simply breathtaking in their quality and precise execution. The surface of the table features an intricate diamond lattice motif surrounded by a fine pierced bronze gallery that ensures no delicate jewelry pieces fall to the floor. The facade of the table is surrounded in a border of links and foliate flourishes, and the entire piece rests upon a doré bronze base comprising a pair of lyres. The table opens to reveal a soft lined interior to keep precious jewels safe, and the mirror inset into the lid allows for trying on choice pieces.
