A striking mythological motif distinguishes this outstanding pair of French Neoclassical gilt bronze urns. Modeled after a design by French architect Léon Boucher, these magnificent, baluster-form vases display exceptional images of Greek heroes Bellerophon and Pegasus in bas relief. Ornate cartouches, reeded handles and bands of Bacchic masks this design, while fitted, cut and etched glass inserts lend a delicate charm. Set upon rouge marble bases, these urns exemplify the neoclassical style.
