This exceptionally rare French surgeon's kit contains dozens of instruments for performing a wide variety of procedures, including general operations, amputations, catheterization, bullet extractions and trepanning. The complete and easy-to-carry kit helped ensure that a surgeon could quickly administer medical treatment to patients at home, in the street or even on the battlefield. Since these cases were personally assembled by surgeons according to their own preferences, no two boxes are exactly alike. Housed in its original fitted case, with each instrument bearing its original wooden handle, this set offers a rare glimpse into the history of modern medicine. To find a complete set in such excellent condition is extremely rare.
