This Georgian silver chamberstick was crafted by the renowned silversmith Paul Storr and exhibits the refined style synonymous with his output. Gadrooning and a delicate, scrolling ring handle lend elegance to the design. It also retains its original snuffing cone to extinguish candles, a rarity among chambersticks of this age.

The chamberstick is engraved with the Spence family crest surmounted by the family's motto Semper esto fidelis ("Be ever Faithful"). It is also the motto of the United States Marine Corps, which is typically shortened to "Semper Fi."
