This Georgian silver coffee pot by the famed silversmith Hester Bateman is a stunning example of her skill for ornamentation. The pot is beautifully crafted in the Rococo style, a rarity for this smith who more often created works in the neoclassical taste. Rather than beading or engraving, Bateman adorns her pot with repousse flourishes, florals and swirls. The result is a work of remarkable luxury that would have been made for a client of considerable import. A graceful wooden handle and acorn finial complete the exceptional design.
