He exhibited his first works at the young age of 14 and later studied in Paris at the École du Louvre and École Normale Supérieure. A 1959 White House commission to paint the portrait of President Eisenhower cemented his reputation as an artist of renown, and his work has since been featured in important exhibitions throughout Europe and the United States.
