This exceptional Meissen porcelain group exhibits that renowned firm's mastery of mythological themes. Crafted in the exuberant Rococo style for which Meissen was famed, this group depicts the drunken Silenus, seated astride a donkey and supported by Bacchus, god of wine and merriment. Designed by Friederich Elias Meyer, circa 1760, this group also includes a draped bacchante feeding grapes to the donkey whilst a mischievous putto pulls its tail.

The group features the crossed swords marks with an incised pattern number.
