Spring is personified as a putto with a basket of brightly colored flowers in this charming porcelain figure by Meissen. The figure is modeled after the figure created by famed Meissen modeler Johann Joachim Kändler (1706-1775). His works are considered the most important of the firm's history, and he is noted for his incorporation of robust Rococo motifs that were popular during the 18th century.

The underside of the figure is marked with the Meissen blue crossed swords, the model number "A.64" and painter number "48."
