Signed “H. Claude Pissarro” (lower right); signed and inscribed "H. Claude Pissarro Le Petit Fils 'Palmiers à Nice' 12. Fig." (en verso)
Oil on canvas

With vibrant hues and textured brushstrokes, H. Claude Pissarro captures a sunny day in Nice, France. The city's architectural grandeur comes alive thanks to Pissarro's intuitive understanding of light and color, which permeates the composition. People mill about, and a soft breeze blows through the palm trees and French flags, the movement lending a vibrancy to the scene. His masterful technique, rich with swift and short brushstrokes of brilliant color, reveals the strong influence of his father and grandfather before him, the great Impressionist Camille Pissarro.

The grandson of famed Impressionist painter Camille Pissarro and son of Paulémile Pissarro, Hugues Claude Pissarro carries out his family's artistic tradition with the utmost beauty and care. H. Claude exhibited a talent for art at an early age and was given his first painting lessons informally at home by his father. He exhibited his first work at 14 and subsequently studied in Paris at prestigious establishments such as École Normale Supérieure. As the fourth generation of painters hailing from the Pissarro family, H. Claude has produced an incredible body of work in his lifetime marked by vibrant landscapes like the present work.

This work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the artist.
