This beautiful and monumental pair of Royal Vienna urns feature richly colored hand-painted scenes commemorating several of Napoléon's victories. Each side of the vessels depicts a different, highly detailed Napoleonic scene, including the Battles of Wagram (1806), Jena (1806) and Friedland (1807), as well as a portrait of the lone Emperor on horseback. The scenes are modeled after French history painter Horace Vernet's epic depictions of these battles, and the urns are accented by flawless gilt decoration with bases decorated in classical wreaths and swags.

The Imperial and Royal Porcelain Factory Vienna, commonly referred to as Royal Vienna by collectors, was founded in 1718 by Claudius Innocentius du Paquier. It was the premier producer of porcelain in the region for nearly two centuries, and the factory was granted a "special privilege" for the exclusive right to produce porcelain in Austria. Du Paquier sold the factory to the Hapsburg court in 1744, and Austrian royalty owned and operated the factory until it closed in 1864, at which time it was put under museum administration. After the factory's closing, the royal government allowed several other factories to open in Austria and sold them molds from the Imperial and Royal factory to make reproductions of the famous factory's pieces. At various points, there have been 21 different factories or decorating studios in Vienna, Austria.

Each base features Royal Vienna beehive mark.
