Two excellent Sèvres porcelain plates are mounted in bronze ormolu stands in these exceptional compotes. The delicate turquoise, or bleu celeste, hue provides the perfect background to exquisite portrait plaques of two ladies, surrounded by smaller plaques of personal possessions and embellished with intricate floral gilt borders. Prized by royalty and heads of state for over two centuries, Sèvres porcelain is known around the world for the high quality of its craftsmanship and superior artistry.
