A fine sterling presentation salad set by American silver manufacturer Whiting Manufacturing Company of Massachusetts. The three-piece set is adorned with applied maritime decoration and the scalloped-edge bowl bears the inscription: Hon. John H. McAvoy/from the Directors/McAvoy Brewing Company/January 1, 1890. The McAvoy Brewing Company operated in Chicago from 1887-1920.
