A lovely 4.17-carat untreated Burma ruby displays wonderful color in this stylish ring. Approximately 1.20 carats of white diamonds join this crimson gem in a platinum setting. The vibrant ruby is certified by the American Gemological Laboratories as Burmese in origin and untreated. Prized for their rich and full red color, rubies hailing from the Burmese mines rarely weighed more than 2.00 or 3.00 carats, making a jewel of this size and caliber extremely scarce and highly desirable.

Burmese rubies are widely considered among the rarest of all gemstones. For centuries, Burma has been associated with the world’s finest rubies, though by edict of the King himself, the finest stones were never allowed to leave the kingdom. In addition, due to political unrest, the country’s borders were closed in 1962, further restricting the trade and increasing the rarity of these magnificent gemstones.
