Certified by the American Gemological Laboratories as hailing from Brazil, the gemstones have undergone no treatment or enhancement to achieve their exceptionally rare color-changing properties. The AGL further categorizes the gems as "Classic Brazil," a testament to the excellent quality and prominent degree of the color-change. The stones are additionally accompanied by a coveted appendix letter from the Swiss Gemological Institute that describes the pair as "rare and exceptional." Totaling 11.43 carats and framed by white diamonds totaling approximately 5.75 carats, these perfectly matched alexandrite earrings command attention.

While the first alexandrites were discovered in Russia in 1834, many of the finest and most notable examples of the stone hail from Brazil. The colors of the present example resemble one of the most famous alexandrites in the world – the 17.08-carat stone known as the Whitney alexandrite currently held in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Similarly to the present stone, the Whitney alexandrite changes from blue-green to an intense purple.
