One of the rarest of all tourmalines, canary yellow tourmalines was discovered in Malawi in 2000. Although tourmalines are renowned for the incredible array of colors in which they are found, yellow specimens were almost unheard of, and those that were discovered displayed a tinge of brown coloring.
