The ring’s provenance elevates it to an extraordinary level of significance. It was gifted directly by Elvis to his longtime bodyguard and confidant, Dave Hebler, during a performance in the summer of 1972. In his accompanying letter, Hebler writes that Elvis removed the ring mid-performance, noting that it was slipping from his finger, and handed it to Hebler for safekeeping. After the show, when Hebler attempted to return it, Elvis told him to keep it for good luck. The ring later entered the collection of Chris Davidson, founder of the Elvis Presley Museum—the only museum ever officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises and the Graceland estate. The interior engraving “EP” further confirms its intimate connection to the King himself.
