Crafted by prominent London silversmith John Payne, this baluster form jug would have been used for wine or other cold beverages. It features a graceful reeded band below its middle in order to leave space for the Jenison family coat of arms, which is surrounded by a beautiful foliate flourish. Other natural elements, including delicate leaf motifs on the scrolled handle and the cover's rim along with the charming berry finial, complete the jug's sophisticated design.
