Featuring a 14K yellow gold donkey adorned with glittering blue sapphire eyes perched on a cloud of freshwater pearls, it serves as a resonant symbol of the Democratic Party, to which President John F. Accompanied by a 1994 letter on White House letterhead from Evelyn Lincoln, Kennedy's personal secretary, this pin is linked directly to the Oval Office. According to the letter, the pin was a gift to JFK from his brother-in-law Peter Lawford. Intended for Jackie Kennedy, the pin instead remained in the top drawer of Kennedy's desk until the tragic events of November 1963. This poignant memento provides a tangible connection to one of America’s most iconic leaders.
