This exceptionally rare Patek Philippe Nautilus watch epitomizes the pinnacle of luxury sports watches with its Annual Calendar and moon-phase display. Originally conceived by the visionary watchmaker Gérald Genta in 1976, the Nautilus model 5726 was launched in 2016. This model was introduced as part of the 40th-anniversary celebration of the Nautilus collection, paying homage to the original 1976 model. Genta, celebrated for designing some of the most iconic watches, including the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, drew inspiration from transatlantic ships. The Nautilus design, reminiscent of a porthole, features rounded octagonal edges and hinge-like sides. Although available in various metals today, steel remains the most coveted material for this watch. The designation "1A-014" signifies the original steel/steel combination, while the blue dial, a tribute to the original Nautilus model of 1976, adds to its rarity.

Introduced in 1996 and patented by Patek Philippe, the Annual Calendar is the first timekeeping mechanism that automatically shows the month, day of the week and correct date, accounting for months with 30 and 31 days. It requires adjustment only once a year, on March 1.

This elegantly sporty watch is water-resistant to 30 meters and houses the caliber 324 S QA LU 24H/303 self-winding movement, comprising 347 parts, visible through a sapphire crystal exhibition caseback. This impressive timepiece comes unworn with its original box and papers.

It is difficult to overstate the beauty and craftsmanship of this watch. The case and bracelet are crafted of stainless steel with a patented fold-over clasp with a lockable adjustment system and integrated steel links progressing up to join the case. The center links are polished while the outer links are matte, and this contrasting level of polish gives the bracelet incredible shine and texture. The face possesses a highly desirable sunburst pattern, blue at the center and subtly blackening towards the edges. The gold-applied hour markers showcase a practical luminescent coating. A date display is set at the 6 o’clock position along with a 24-hour sub-dial and a moon phase indicator. Additionally, there is a day of the week and month indicator window at the 12 o'clock position, completing the highly practical Annual Calendar. The sweeping seconds hand is located at the central seconds position. With a 48-hour power reserve, the caliber 240 automatic movement ensures the highest precision timekeeping.

The exposed movement on the back of this watch is equally impressive. A gold micro-rotor makes the watch incredibly thin, which allows it to sit elegantly and comfortably on the wrist. Because Patek Philippe places such a strong emphasis on quality and craftsmanship, only a limited number of these watches exist, and they are nearly impossible to find today, especially in this unworn condition. In the world of luxury timepieces, this is an exceptional find.
