Elkington & Co, founded in the 1830s, was one of the most celebrated producers of electroplated wares, a silverplating technique invented and patented by the firm in 1838. They supplied flatware for the luxury dining sections of the Titanic and earned royal commissions from Queen Victoria, Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII and other European monarchs. Known for their innovative techniques and exceptional designs, Elkington’s legacy endures as a hallmark of excellence in silverware. Additionally, this set was a part of the prestigious Red McCombs collection, which has been highly publicized and studied.
