Florentine is beloved for its intricacy, superior design and rarity. The pattern was designed by premier Tiffany artisan Paulding Farnham, a gifted sculptor who studied the art of silversmithing directly under Edward C. Moore, head designer at Tiffany & Co. from 1868 to 1891. His talent is evident in the Florentine pattern, which exhibits not only incredibly deep and rich chasing but also magnificent proportions. Farnham was responsible for Tiffany’s most elaborate works during his tenure and was called upon to create such important commissions as the Admiral Dewey presentation sword and the famed Adams Gold Vase housed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The silver flatware of Tiffany & Co. is among the finest in the world. Each hand-finished piece incorporates the timeless designs and quality craftsmanship that make Tiffany one of the world's leading silversmiths. Since their first international recognition at the 1867 Paris World's Fair, Tiffany has supplied silver to numerous royal families throughout Europe, as well as elite American families including the Astors and Vanderbilts.
Each piece is marked "Tiffany & Co. Sterling Pat. 1900"
