Inspired by the wide array of Japanese art and wares he encountered at the 1867 Exposition Universelle in. . .
Inspired by the wide array of Japanese art and wares he encountered at the 1867 Exposition Universelle in Paris, Moore and Grosjean designed this opulent flatware to reflect the endless beauty of nature through dozens of delicate renderings of plants, flowers, insects and animals. The distinctive shape of the flatware—with rolled edges that are thicker than their middles, either turning toward the front or back—gives this pattern its iconic "Lap-Over-Edge" name. This stunning example is a rare treasure in pristine, complete condition, expertly presented in its four-drawer fitted oak Tiffany chest.
The silver flatware of Tiffany & Co. is among the finest in the world. Each hand-finished piece incorporates the timeless designs and quality craftsmanship that make Tiffany one of the world's leading silversmiths. Since their first international recognition at the 1867 Paris World's Fair, Tiffany has supplied silver to numerous royal families throughout Europe, as well as elite American families including the Astors and Vanderbilts.
