This spectacular, 250-piece Tiffany & Co. sterling silver flatware service exhibits the extremely rare Olympian pattern. Each piece is embellished with one of 17 different scenes created for this pattern, depicting subjects and stories from classical Greek mythology. The intricately cast pieces also exhibit elaborate natural designs and the mask of a deity or lion on the reverse.

Designed by Edward C. Moore & F. Antoine Heller and introduced in 1878, Olympian was unveiled at the Exposition Universelle in Paris, where it won the Grand Prix Award for Excellence in Design and Silversmithing. Elaborate and classical, this design was the most elaborate and complex of all the Tiffany patterns. This complete service for 12 is housed in its original fitted chest.

The 17 different handle decorations, each unique and incredibly intricate, include depictions of the following: Jupiter with the eagle; Hebe the cupbearer; Paris the son of Priam; Venus born of the sea; Orpheus in search of his wife; Diana and her nymphs; Bacchantes amusing the infant; Hercules and Omphale; The Sibyl; the fourth labor of Hercules; Actaeon; Bacchus; Orpheus; Bacchus and Bacchante; the second labor of Hercules; sleeping Diana; and Satyrs receiving instruction.
