Mastering the Art of Dealing Collectibles

Bill Rau began working at his family's New Orleans antique dealership, M.S. Rau Antiques, at the age of 14. He became president of the firm, now in it's 103 year, in 1995. "There was nothing different that happened the day I became president than the day before," he says. "That was when my uncles officially retired, but it was business as usual." Mr. Rau is considered one of the foremost experts on European and American antiques, fine art, and jewelry, and is a member of the Wedgwood Society, the American Cut Glass Association, the National Association of Watch Collectors, and the Music Box Society. So how can one person be knowledgeable in so many niche collectible categories?
