This stunning pair of silver and agate tazzas by prominent Parisian goldsmith and jeweler Jules Wiese exhibits a classical elegance. The warm beauty of the banded agate is complemented perfectly by the raised silver mounts which are crafted in the Renaissance style with intricately cast dragon handles, lion masks and scrolling feet.

Jules Wiese was a master of the neo-Renaissance and neo-Gothic styles, and was a frequent exhibitor in the great world exhibitions of the late 19th century. He presented his work under his own name for the first time at the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1855 where he was awarded a first class medal, and he won a gold medal at the 1862 London World Exhibition.
