Jules Wiese was a master of the neo-Renaissance and neo-Gothic styles, and was a frequent exhibitor in the great world exhibitions of the late 19th century. He presented his work under his own name for the first time at the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1855 where he was awarded a first class medal, and he won a gold medal at the 1862 London World Exhibition.
