Cartier’s legacy in clock and watchmaking stretches nearly as far back as the founding of the House itself. In 1898, Louis Cartier, one of the three Cartier brothers and grandson of founder Louis-François, relocated with his father Alfred to 13 rue de la Paix. A gifted creator of jewels and objets d’art, Louis brought his artistry to the long-lost traditions of clockmaking, transforming what had once been a secondary pursuit into a hallmark of Cartier’s prestige. From that point forward, the firm produced clocks, table clocks and watches with uncompromising attention to perfection, beauty and originality. These timepieces became highly sought-after by Europe and America’s wealthiest families, admired for both their craftsmanship and exclusivity.

Complete with its original fitted Cartier case, this boudoir clock is a quintessential example of Belle Époque luxury, seamlessly combining exceptional materials with the refined elegance of early 20th-century design.
