Bathed in Mediterranean light, the composition looks out across the water toward the town’s warm, sunlit buildings. Boats glide across the harbor, their reflections shimmering in the gentle waves. Leduc’s expressive brushstrokes and vibrant palette bring the scene to life, reflecting his Post-Impressionist style. His masterful use of light and complementary hues evokes both movement and tranquility, embodying the enchanting beauty of the French coast.

Paul Leduc began his artistic studies under Joseph Coosemans in Tervueren before attending the Mons Academy under Antoine Bourlard. He then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp with Albert Baertsoen. He traveled across Europe, finding inspiration in the landscapes and cityscapes of Belgium, France, Italy and more. He is best known for his luminous, painterly landscapes such as this.
