After starting its Historic Preservation Initiative last year, Veranda hosted the 2017 Innovation in Preservation Forum in New Orleans with Bevolo Gas & Electric Lights. The two-day event included a dinner at the home of Jane Scott Hodges and Philip Hodges, owners of Leontine Linens, followed by the Preservation Forum at Pigeon & Prince restaurant. The forum featured Drew Bevolo, president and founder of Bevolo Gas & Electric Lights; Michael Devonshire, member of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission; the Hodgeses; and Susan Sung, custom manager at Samuel & Sons. Designers in attendance included Gwen Driscoll, Brian Bockman, Patricia Brinson, Hillary Engelhardt, Ann Holden, Shaun Smith and Lynne Uhalt. The forum was followed by a visit to M.S. Rau Antiques and dinner at Bevolo Gas & Electric Lights.
“New Orleans is a perfect setting to continue our preservation conversations,” says Clinton Smith, editor in chief of Veranda. “Historic homes are really time capsules for the work of talented craftsmen, artisans and brilliant architects, loved and cared for by people who, like us, are inspired by great design and understand the need to preserve it.”
