A rare and exceptional trophy, won by the thoroughbred Personality at the 1970 Wood Memorial Stakes race held at the Aqueduct Racetrack. Beautifully crafted of plate silver, this exceptional platter is edged with an intricate gadrooned border and elevated on three bracket feet. The platter features an engraved armorial with the motto “Semper Fidelis” at its center. The trophy’s winner, Personality, was owned by Mrs. Ethel D. Jacobs, the leading owner of thoroughbred horses for three years, and the wife of Hirsch Jacobs, a well-respected Hall of Fame trainer. Thanks in part to his win at the Wood Memorial, Personality was named American Horse of the Year in 1970.
The reverse is engraved with inscription “NEW YORK RACING ASSOCIATION, The Wood Memorial, Aqueduct, 1970, won by Ethel Jacobs’ Personality”
