Graceful swirls of copper- and white-hued enamel encase this Art Deco-period vase by the Limoges-based Camille Fauré. It was crafted using Fauré's signature raised enameling, which is achieved by applying an enamel paste to a copper base form and “building it” before firing. Heralding a revolution in the decorative arts, this vase exemplifies the innovative importance of this renowned artisan. Today, Fauré's highly unique enamel vases such as this can be found in museum collections around the world, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Corning Museum of Glass (New York).
