Monet was a close friend and mentee of her great-grandfather, Camille Pissarro, and later served as mentor and godfather to her grandfather, Paulémile Pissarro. Her own childhood further deepened this bond, as she grew up surrounded by gardens and a river filled with water lilies in Clécy. While Monet’s gardens, now preserved as the Fondation Claude Monet, served as a foundational source of inspiration, Pissarro brings her own voice to the subject, revitalizing the Impressionist legacy with heightened color and expressive freedom.
