Falize, founded in Paris in 1838 by Alexis Falize and later directed by Lucien Falize, was celebrated for creating jewelry as art with a particular mastery of cloisonné enamel and historic revival styles. The firm produced works for European aristocracy, contributed to the Renaissance Revival and early Art Nouveau movements, and remains represented in major museum collections worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the British Museum and the Walters Art Museum.
