Circa 1880–90

This exquisite enameled glass dressing table set was created by the celebrated Bohemian glassmaker Moser during the late 19th century. Comprising a tray, two ewers and stoppers, a covered jar, a small tazza and a ring tree, the set exemplifies the remarkable artistry and technical sophistication that defined luxury European glassmaking during the period.

Rendered in luminous straw-colored glass, each piece is richly enameled in polychrome with scrolling oak leaves and scattered insects, and accented with applied gilt-metal acorns. Exemplifying an ideal combination of decorative elements, dressing sets such as this are rarely encountered complete, and examples retaining such rare forms are especially prized. Remarkably, items in the set retain their original Ludwig Moser, Carlsbad stickers.

Founded by Ludwig Moser in the 19th century, Moser quickly rose to international prominence for its unparalleled craftsmanship and artistic innovation. Encouraged by the Austro-Hungarian government and refined through early work in Karlsbad, Moser developed a distinguished clientele that included royalty and global dignitaries. Renowned for combining technical brilliance with imaginative design, the firm remains synonymous with the highest standards of luxury Bohemian glassmaking.
