This ingenious late Regency card table was designed with both beauty and entertainment in mind. When not in use, its folded D-shaped top sits against the wall providing an elegant side table. When the time comes to play a game of cards, the tabletop easily revolves and unfolds to reveal a felt-lined surface. The table is supported by a four-footed base displaying understated scrollwork and beading, exhibiting the best of traditional Regency design.

Card playing and gambling were very popular pastimes among the fashionable elite during the 18th and 19th centuries, and tables such as these were specially crafted and housed in some of the finest estates throughout Great Britain. It is exceedingly rare to find a Regency-period example such as this, particularly in such excellent condition.
