Skillfully executed, this plaque is a splendid example of the creativity and technical genius of KPM's porcelain artists. The ornate silvered frame complements the plaque’s excellent composition and subtle color. First crafted in Europe during the middle of the 19th century, porcelain plaques are very difficult to produce, as ceramic paints do not attain their final color until after firing. Large porcelain compositions such as this piece are especially difficult to produce, making a KPM painting of this size an exceptional find.
