The classical elegance of Wedgwood is showcased in this rare pair of tricolor jasperware barber bottles. Tricolor jasperware is a rarity from the firm, especially pairs in such exceptional condition as these bottles. Delicately crafted green and lilac bas-relief jasperware in a bacchanalian motif adorns the white exterior while dancing Greco-Roman figures are set within tricolor jasper plaques. Masterfully crafted, this pair exemplifies the careful attention to detail and high level of artistry for which Wedgwood’s iconic pieces are known.

Jasperware is considered one of Josiah Wedgwood's most significant contributions to ceramic art and is the result of several thousand individual experiments. Consisting of a white stoneware body which can be colored by the addition of metal oxides, the composition of jasper was the factory's most closely guarded secret. Tricolor jasperware is highly sought after by collectors, and these fine examples are particularly desirable.
