This exceptionally wonderful and quite rare antique musical automation box by the Mermod Frerès firm of Sainte-Croix, Switzerland is a marvel of music box craftsmanship. Though the window, the viewer can see a fluttering butterfly and four maidens twirling and dancing along on their "stage" to the tune being played. This box's sublime harmony movement possesses a crisp, melodious sound, and is complemented by its ornate cabinet crafted of inlaid burl walnut. The movement is in fantastic working order, and is equipped with a tune selector, parachute safety check and speed regulator. The box comes with three cylinders that can be stored in the fitted drawers below the mechanism. Each cylinder can play six tunes.
