This elegant silver and glass perfume flask combines practical refinement with richly worked decoration. The clear glass body is encased in an elaborate pierced silver mount of scrolling foliate ornament, its fluid curves and finely engraved details creating a striking lace-like effect across the surface. At the center, a polished cartouche is engraved with the monogram “NSL.” The rounded shoulders and softly curved edges give the vessel a graceful silhouette, while the domed hinged silver cap opens to reveal the inner glass stopper, an ingenious double-closure designed to preserve the fragrance within.
The flask belongs to a sophisticated tradition of silver-mounted scent bottles produced by leading silversmiths at the end of the 19th century. Such works were fashionable luxury accessories, prized not only for their function but also for the virtuosity of their metalwork. The extensive pierced silver casing seen here is particularly decorative, transforming a useful personal object into a richly ornamental work of art.
